Sky Bowling, Ploiesti, Romania
Star ceiling and digital effect panels installed in this Romanian bowling alley.
The Project Brief
Fibre Optic Lighting International provided effect lighting for this new bowling alley in Ploiesti in Romania.
The first feature was an unusual star ceiling, where instead of the normal intense light points, the fibres were installed in shapes and were left untrimmed to hang 50mm from the ceiling.
100W tungsten halogen light sources with inbuilt colour wheels were used to light the ceiling and they were set to allow random colour change.
In the second area, the walls on either side of the bowling lanes, FOLI created an effect that resembled a digital screen.
To achieve this, a rectangle shape on either wall was set out in a grid formation with 1mm PMMA fibre tails fitted with acrylic star lenses.
150W tungsten halogen light sources with twinkle wheels were uses in this area - the twinkling effecty providing an effect similar to movement.
